Obesity is the most common nutritional disorder that occurs among pets in the United States. The primary cause for obesity is overfeeding. It is easy to want to feed our pets more than they need because we love them and want them to be happy. It is also easy to point the finger at who is doing it. Having healthy snacks can make us feel better and our pets happy and healthy.

Genetic predisposition also plays a role in obesity. Therefore, it is important to be conscious to avoid overfeeding especially in these particular breeds. There are numerous health risks associated with obesity. The most common are heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, muscular injuries and pulmonary disorders. You can prevent obesity by correctly measuring food as well as feeding 2 meals a day.

We are here to educate clients on exactly how many calories a pet should recieve, and how to determine a pets ideal weight. Controlling a pets weight is important to prevent future problems from occuring. Therefore, it is crucial to their health and overall well-being.

  • "Wow! Thanks to all the staff at Anderson Vet Clinic. I feel like you all truly love what you do! My kitty, Lola and I always have such a pleasant experience when we come in. Fortunately, it’s usually just for a check-up, but I would not leave Lola in anyone else’s hands but yours. Thank you for your caring commitment!"
